Hannan's magnet students have 30 minutes of Spanish everyday in grades K through 5. The curriculum is designed to give the students an opportunity to progress from learning basic vocabulary to using Spanish simple, real-life communication.

In addition to the benefits of knowing another language, foreign language study has consistently been shown to increase students' performance in other disciplines such as math, reading, and language arts. Also, children who study foreign language tend to score higher on standardized tests.

Hannan Magnet Academy has the distinction of being the first school in Georgia to have elementary students inducted into the National Spanish Honor Society- Sociedad Hispánica de Amistad- sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
